Lime in this calculator is based on ground dolomitic lime (passing 150 microns mesh) with a calcium carbonate equivalent of 90%. The soil pH is measured in water in ratio of soil: water of 1: 2.5 on weight-weight basis. This calculator can only estimate lime requirements for acid Nitisols (WRB,2015 and FAO,1988) with a pH range of 3.9-5.5 that are common in the coffee and tea growing highlands of East Africa.
